FAQ: DESI Method

  • What makes DESI Fluid so unique?

    The DESI disinfectant does not contain any poisons or harmful substances and is suitable for allergy sufferers. The active ingredient in DESI Fluid is hydrogen peroxide at a concentration of 70 ppm. The natural property of hydrogen peroxide is that it breaks down into its components water andoxygen after a very short time.

    Thanks to the sustainable ingredients of DESI Fluid, roomdisinfection can also take place while people are in the room. No protective equipment is required during disinfection.

  • What does aerosol disinfection mean?

    Aerosol disinfection is an automated air disinfection process.

    An aerosol is a heterogeneous mixture of solid or liquid suspended particles in a gas. The smallest particles floating in the air are afew nanometers in size. Viruses and bacteria can use these suspended particlesas a kind of carrier. The nebulization of DESI Fluid starts right here. The DESI fluid nebulization DESInfects the air. After the DESI Fluid Fog has dropped unto the surface, more than 99.99% of all bacteria and viruses are also removed from the surfaces.

    As a rule, DESI technology is used as a final disinfection and thus completes a professional hygiene routine.

  • What happens when I come into contact with DESI Fluid?

    The active ingredient in DESI Fluid is hydrogen peroxide or H₂O₂. That consists of oxygen and hydrogen atoms. It breaks down into water and oxygen within a very short time without leaving any residue. It is a strong oxidizing agent. Direct contact in low concentrations, such as our 70 ppm fluid, is therefore harmless.

    Hydrogen peroxide solutions are used in medicine for directdisinfection on and in people. They are used, for example, to disinfect the mouth and throat, for bladder rinsing, dental neck treatments, ear rinsing etc. It is also used as a preservative and disinfectant in various face creams.

  • The DESI Fluid is made from water in the DESI® PLASMA FLUIDER. Can any water be used?

    In principle, normal tap water can be used. If the tap water is very hard, we recommend using distilled water or filtered water. A high degree of hardness in the water means that the fog cannot rise so easily, as the hard water is very heavy compared to soft water. But it can certainly be fogged. More frequent decalcification, such as with kettles or coffee machines, is then recommended to prevent deposits that can reduce the efficiency of the devices.

  • How has DESI Fluid been tested?

    The Schwarzkopf Institute accompanies our DESI products. Dr. Schwarzkopf is a specialist in microbiology and infection epidemiology, apublicly appointed and sworn expert for hospital hygiene. The institute is a service provider for the healthcare sector and industry on the subject of microbes and viruses.

  • From what concentration is an effect of the fluid proven and by whom?

    40 ppm were determined by the Dr. Schwarzkopf proven to be effective in a competitor product. Our fluid has a value of 70 ppm.

  • How do I have to imagine a level of 70 ppm?

    Imagine you have 1000 liters of water and you put 70 ml of ink into that 1000 liters of water. This corresponds to the strength of the solution of 70 ppm.

  • Is it safe to inhale the mist?

    Yes, the concentration of the mist poses no threat to the respiratory tract and is still strong enough to fight the viruses

    Healthy people have no problems with this, we are talking about max. 100 ppm, = 0.010% H₂O₂

  • Does DESI Fluid also remove bad odors?

    Bad smells are caused by special bacteria. Since DESI Fluid eliminates more than 99.99% of harmful bacteria and viruses, it is also a popular and effective helper against bad odors. In the changing rooms of sports facilities in particular, it is often used in addition to routine hygiene.

  • How does DESI Fluid work?

    The active ingredient in DESI Fluid is hydrogen peroxide.

    Hydrogen peroxide has a disinfectant effect and tends to break down quickly - especially when it comes into contact with organic material.

  • How can I nebulize DESI Fluid?

    DESI Fluid can be used in two nebulization techniques. Ultrasonic devices are recommended for smaller rooms. Devices with nozzle technology are used in large event or production halls.

    All devices that are used have been tested and approved for their effectiveness when applying DESI Fluid disinfection and are approved for room treatment.

  • How long is the average exposure time for the mist?

    Nebulization 60 min.

    Wipe disinfection 4-6 min. Even when it has dried off, the H₂O₂ continues to work!

  • Why does the mist work better when it is finely atomized?

    The more finely the mist is atomized, the better the mist floats in the room atmosphere and penetrates and reaches everywhere, especially where you cannot reach with the wipe disinfection.

  • Does the fog create mold?

    If the room is not properly ventilated, yes. Humidity should be 40-60%. Our DESI® MONITOR measures that.

  • How does DESI Fluid nebulization work?

    Many viruses and bacteria are transmitted through the air. On the one hand, this happens through droplet infection, in which the virus or bacteria are transmitted through droplets that we humans give off through coughing and sneezing. Due to their size and weight, these do not stay in the air for long and sink down. An at least as large part of the transmission takes place via the inhaled and exhaled air, the so-called aerosol transmission.

    When the DESI Fluid disinfectant is applied, one cubic meter of air contains billions of disinfectant aerosols. These render the pathogens harmless. They penetrate the entire room including the difficult or inaccessible areas such as the area behind a picture frame.

    For this purpose, the physical property of diffusion is used, through which the applied DESI Fluid disinfectant is evenly distributed over time. Thanks to this property, the DESI Fluid is distributed in closedrooms until there is a balanced moisture content in the air and the microorganisms are rendered harmless. During the DESInfection  the fine droplets touch surfaces, textiles, furnishings and materials. The disinfection mist from DESI Fluid ensures a minimum of 99.99% disinfection of the room air and surfaces and then decomposes into its components, water and oxygen, with almost no residue.

  • Why does the Federal Environment Agency, RKI or the Conference of Ministers of Education not recommend the method of nebulization with hydrogen peroxide?

    You have to consider the two different requirements.

    Room air disinfection can do that:

    - It can filter fine dust and aerosols from the air.

    - It can massively reduce the risk of infection from viruses or bacteria in closed rooms.

    - Our products for indoor air disinfection: DESI® DRY MOBILE 1000 and DESI® DRY STATION 1600

    - No air filter helps against a droplet infection (e.g. through coughing) - but distance and masks.

  • Why do we use the fluid method? What are the differences to other disinfection methods?

    The fluid method is sustainable. We use water. This not only protects the environment, but also the surface of the skin during hand disinfection, or the surfaces of furniture, fabrics, leather ... because it is made on a water basis and not on an alcohol or chemical basis.

  • How long can I use the H₂O₂ after I have treated the water in the fluid?

    The water should be plasmatized anew every day. But you can also use test strips and check whether the fluid still holds its 70 ppm concentration. As long as this value is reached, the fluid can be used.

  • What do I do with excess fluid?

    The fluid can simply be poured out in the drain as it breaks down into its components (water and oxygen).

  • Can you drink the fluid?

    (Babies, toddlers, children) discuss with the respective pediatrician. Consistency is 70 ppm H₂O₂
